Tey Bannerman :: Designer + Web Developer

Bold..

The delicately proportioned mesh of blacks and greys.
The sleek yet subtly arousing lines running down the length of your screen, inviting you to explore. The "retro" feel of it all, taking your captivated mind back to purer, more innocent times. Like an old childhood song you've forgotten the words to but still find yourself humming from time to time. Elegant in its simplicity; timeless in its appeal. "This is nice," is what you probably just said to yourself (or not).
Now take your mouse (or touchpad, or whatever) and move that little cursor right... here. I bet you didn't expect that utterly pointless touch of audacity, did you?

Hi. My name is Tey and I create things. Websites, mostly, but the occasional glossy visual treat or paper-based masterpiece here and there too. I like to think of myself as a talented (web) designer (developer) with a curious knack for the "boring" bits of code that lurk behind the scenes. I strive to create engaging user experiences, with a splash of gusto and a touch of pizazz. You've somehow stumbled upon my personal portfolio site, showcasing my work and humble achievements through my professional career.* Now that you've made it this far, why not take a deep breath, move your mouse back up to click on that chunky "Folio" link up there, relax, and enjoy.

* It's all pretty self-explanatory, but I really need one more paragraph here, mainly for visual reasons, so I'll delve on. The Folio section (short for Portfolio) is where you'll find a selection of my latest work. Under Skills you'll find out about the many awesome skills I posess. Then there's the C.V. section, where you'll probably find my C.V. (surprise!), useful if you're interested in offering me a job. Finally, if you feel inclined to get in touch with me for any reason then please do so using the handy form I've provided under Reach.

Web Design

I specialise in creating engaging, functional, elegant, standards compliant, cross-browser (yes, even IE6) user experiences for the web. A wizened XHTML/CSS master and jQuery tiger, I maintain a firm focus on user-centric design and usability principles in all of my work. Keeping abreast of trends and new developments in the field, recent projects have involved everything from designing and developing dynamic purpose-built mobile/iPhone websites to integrating client websites with Google APIs, Twitter and Facebook.

Add to that my broad experience in not only designing and developing entire CMS-based sites, but also the development of custom Drupal and Wordpress modules + extensions for various projects, and everybody's smiling!

Development

I seem to have a never- ending love affair with code (I blame my I.T. degree), and PHP is no exception. Having created complete web-based systems and MySQL data-driven websites from scratch both professionally and "for fun", backend development comes almost as second nature to me.

I've also programmed for and have considerable experience working with and maintaining a number of ASP-based websites and in-house systems.

Graphic Design

Logos, corporate identities, product packaging, posters, magazines - I've done it all. Skilled in the use of the mighty Adobe Illustrator and InDesign packages to aid in turning creative and professionals visions into reality, check out the 'Graphic' section of my portfolio above for a sample of my deeds.

C.V.

You're curious, aren't you?

Yep, this is my online C.V. Well, at least the Work Experience / Education part of it.

Each of the bars below represents a chunk of my professional career, with different colour codes for employment and education. Simply  move your mouse over any of the bars  for further details.

You can also download a full non-interactive, pretty, printable PDF version using the link underneath.
